Dr Mthiyane is an Interventional Cardiologist and the newest addition at Melomed Richards Bay.
Dr Mthiyane completed his medical degree at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in Pretoria North in 1994. He achieved his specialisation qualification (Fellowship of the College of Physicians of South Africa) in 2011 and obtained a subspecialty Certificate in Cardiology in 2015.
Dr Mthiyane has an interest in heart failure and is a faculty member of the Heart Failure Society of South Africa (HeFSSA). HeFSSA promotes research and collaboration on heart failure matters in South Africa and around the world. Dr Mthiyane was nominated by SA Heart and the South African Society of Cardiovascular Intervention (SASCI), and he subsequently received a scholarship to attend the European Society of Cardiology Congress in Munich in 2012. The ESC Congress is a prestigious annual event, the largest medical congress in Europe, that attracts over 25000 delegates. The Society hosts the congress as an accredited educational programme which shares evidence-based scientific knowledge to cardiovascular professionals so they can better care for their patients.
